Microdent receives a grant from the Center for Industrial Technology Development

On October 1, 2019, Microdent was awarded a grant by the CDTI (Center for Industrial Technological Development) for a research project called "Development of an antimicrobial, personalized and durable surface solution that prevents infectious processes in dental implantology: IMPLANTIBAC" that aims to achieve a global surface solution to the appearance of peri-implantitis disease that meets the Requirements of specificity, temporal stability, durability and minimum toxicity demanded by society.

The project contemplates the development of a superficial solution that has a multifunctionality based on its capacity of resistance to variations of mechanical load and its antibacterial capacity to the specific bacteria linked to perlimplantitis, A differentiating factor of this project is that said multifunctionality must meet the requirements of durability and minimum toxicity demanded by the study problem (minimum of 5 years for the functionality antimicrobial, toxicity limits established by ISO 10-993:5 and those referring to surface residue analysis of TOC EN-1484: Cell viability > 70% and maximum limit of increase of surface residue (g / l) = 500, respectively). On the other hand, a compromise must be reached so that the functionality linked to its mechanical properties is not modified during the typical residence time of the implant in the patient (20 years).

The CDTI is a Public Business Entity, under the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, which promotes innovation and technological development of Spanish companies; the entity that channels requests for funding and support for R + D + i projects of Spanish companies at the national and international levels that, like Microdent, are committed to an investment in research for the sake of a notable increase in the quality of their products.
