1. Can I get implants right after extracting my teeth?

Yes, as long as the dentist considers that you meet the ideal conditions for said procedure, known as post-extraction implants.

2. Is it very painful?

Thanks to the evolution of anesthetics and the action of analgesics and anti-inflammatories used in surgeries, implant treatment is usually painless.

3. Are they very expensive?

Like any other medical procedure that requires time, implant treatment is relatively expensive. The patient must always be fully informed and fully understand the costs of implant rehabilitation.

4. Will I have to go toothless?

Immediately after surgery, a provisional prosthesis can be placed to fill the space of the missing tooth or teeth, so that the patient will not be seen without teeth.

5. What if the implant does not integrate?

Lack of osseointegration is a very rare but existing possibility. In these cases, either a "rescue implant" is placed, an implant of greater thickness or length at the same time or, after an adequate healing period, the process can be restarted with an implant with the same characteristics.

6. Will they last a lifetime?

It will always depend on the care, maintenance and conditions of each patient. The longevity of the implants normally exceeds 20 years but it is not possible to guarantee that an implant will last a lifetime.

7. Does tobacco affect implants?

Tobacco causes a decrease in the blood supply to the oral tissues, which decreases the supply of oxygen to said area, endangering the osseointegration of the implants.

8. Will they show up on me?

No, since the objective of implant prostheses is none other than to create a harmonious smile in keeping with facial features, so naturalness is one of the main purposes of the prosthesis.

9. Is there an age limit?

No, in daily clinical practice more and more elderly patients come to the consultations to be rehabilitated with dental implants.

10. What if I have periodontal disease, diabetes, sintrom, etc?

Patients who are candidates for rehabilitation with implants must have optimal oral health conditions, including having periodontal disease under control. Likewise, advances and techniques that are less invasive every day mean that anticoagulated patients do not have any problem placing implants.

11. What if I am pregnant?

As a general rule, the ideal is to wait to give birth and, after recovery, start planning for the placement of implants.
