On May 4, 2016, Microdent was awarded a grant by the CDTI (Center for Industrial Technological Development) for a research project called "Development of new geometries and advanced coatings for titanium dental implants" that has as objective the development of dental implants with a better and greater osseointegration capacity.

The CDTI is a Public Business Entity, dependent on the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, which promotes innovation and technological development of Spanish companies; the entity that channels requests for financing and support for R&D projects of Spanish companies at the national and international levels that, like Microdent, are committed to investing in research in order to achieve a notable increase in the quality of their products .

This aid is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) through the smart growth multi-regional operational program.

It is a project in Cooperation between FLubetech S.L. (state-of-the-art technical coating, with PVD and CVD technologies, for the biomedical sector) and Implant Microdent System S.L. Both companies will have the collaboration of IK4 - Tekniker, a research center that will offer its support in the development and characterization of the coatings.

The most significant innovations proposed by the project are a new design of the external thread of the implant, the elimination of the blasting and acid attack treatment, and the incorporation of a new coating that increases the durability of the implant, to which a bactericidal agent will be incorporated. .
